What is MIXD?
MIXD is a browser-based mixed media animation tool that turns video into printable contact sheets. You work on the sheets by hand, upload a full-sheet scan, and rebuild the animation as MP4.
Do I need a scanner?
No. A flatbed still works, but you can select Phone camera when you set up your video. Scan the QR code on page one with your phone, hold it over your painted sheets, and MIXD captures each frame. It writes a .mixd file you import on your computer.
Does phone capture upload my frames anywhere?
No. The phone finds, straightens, and packs the frames on device, then downloads an encrypted .mixd file. You copy that file onto your computer yourself.
What creative techniques can I use?
You can draw, paint, collage, cut, stamp, write, or add physical textures directly to the printed video frames. MIXD is designed for mixed media artists, animators, illustrators, and designers.
How does MIXD detect each video frame?
MIXD adds registration markers to every printable contact sheet. When you upload the finished pages, the app detects the markers, restores the layout, and crops each frame automatically.
What happens if my scan is crooked?
MIXD automatically repairs tilted, rotated, or perspective-distorted contact sheets. It detects the original grid and extracts each frame consistently.
Do I have to upload the pages in the correct order?
No. MIXD identifies the contact sheets and places the frames back into the correct animation sequence automatically.
What can I export from MIXD?
You can export the rebuilt animation as MP4.
Is MIXD free?
